Version 0 of 1.

The Met Office has warned of gales affecting most of mainland Scotland and Orkney.

The yellow "be aware" warning forecasts winds gusting to up to 60mph and, in exposed places, up to 65mph from between 07:00 to 18:00.

The Met Office said the public should be aware of the potential for some travel disruption.

Earlier this month, winds gusting to 90mph affected power supplies to 14,000 properties and travel.

Road users have been advised to use caution crossing the Forth and Skye bridges, due to high winds currently affecting driving conditions.

The Kessock Bridge has been closed.

Surface water is causing difficult driving conditions in the Strathclyde region.

All lanes are restricted in both directions indefinitely on the A1 at Haddington and Thistly Cross in East Lothian.

There has also been disruption to ferries. The Small Isles service from Mallaig is off for the day, as is the 13:30 Colonsay sailing, because of the winds. Other routes including Broddick, Islay and Mull are on amber alert.

The Met Office said: "Winds will strengthen to bring gales to many locations.

"Gust speeds are expected to reach 55-60mph, with more exposed locations seeing some gusts of 65mph.

"The public should be aware of the potential for some localised travel disruption."
