●Andreas Lubitz was the co-pilot of Germanwings Flight 9525, which crashed in France on Tuesday. He was 27, and he began his career as a pilot for Germanwings in September 2013.

●French authorities, who are investigating the crash, said information gleaned from a flight voice recorder showed Lubitz deliberately flew the aircraft into the French Alps, killing himself and all 149 others on board.

●Authorities said they did not know Lubitz’s motive. A French prosecutor said there was no indication that the crash was a terrorist attack, and German authorites said he had no known ties to terrorist groups.

●Local officials in Düsseldorf, Germany, told the Associated Press that previous security checks on Lubitz, the most recent conducted in late January, turned up no problems or concerns.

●Lubitz lived with his parents in his home town of Montabaur but kept an apartment in Düsseldorf, the destination of Flight 9525.

●He joined an aviation club near Montabaur as a teenager, and by the time of the crash he had about 630 hours of flight experience, according to a spokesman for Lufthansa, which owns Germanwings.

●Lubitz was accepted into Lufthansa’s pilot training program in 2008 and trained at facilities in Bremen, Germany, and in Arizona.

●Lufthansa’s chief executive said Lubitz took a break from his training six years ago, for reasons that remained unclear Thursday, but added that he was considered “100 percent fit to fly” on the day of the crash.
