"Whilst at no time was there any threat or risk to the safety of the children and staff within the school, it was suggested by the police that children may be better leaving the premises," he said.

"This is a matter for the police and something we cannot comment on."
The headteacher of the school has sent a letter to all parents explaining the situation.
