| Held in Lagos in 1977, Festac 77 was the second World Festival of Black Arts (the first had been in Dakar, Senegal). The largest cultural event ever held on the African continent to date, there were over 15,000 attendees from 50 countries. It brought the greatest creatives and cultural voices to Lagos in a once in a generation event. What I find so special about it is the energy that there must have been in Lagos at the time – that’s exciting!
