The crash happened on a winding stretch of the A608, just south of Derby College's Broomfield Hall campus and the village of Morley Smithy.
Kate Adorjan, assistant manager at the Three Horseshoes pub in the village said: "It's a main road and there are a few bad bends and they come down too fast and they can't take the bends."
Richard Taylor, 32, landlord of the Three Horseshoes, said: "They've just lowered the speed limit in the village down to 40mph but I think there needs to be more enforcement as people don't seem to pay that much attention to it."
Iain Telford, 57, from Oakwood, said: "There was an accident waiting to happen. We've had lots of accidents here but not fatalities like this." |
