The DUP's Jim Well condemned the trouble and said the park should be closed off at night.
"The park is used by gangs of feral youths involved in all sorts of anti-social activity, raking cars around the car park," he said.
"The decent people of the town don't go anywhere near it after dark and the police have many similar incidents to control elsewhere in Down district.
"It is a difficult position that they are in."
