A 30-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a father-of-three, who sustained multiple stab wounds at his home.

Brian Croft, 55, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital, after the incident in Northampton.

Mr Croft, injured at his home in Cedrus Court in the Kingsthorpe area on Thursday, has undergone surgery.

The man accused of attempting to kill him is being held in custody and is due before the town's magistrates later.

Police officers found Mr Croft after forcing their way into his home, following a tip-off.
