The A55 westbound expressway in north Wales has been closed after a man died in a collision involving two lorries, a van and a fourth vehicle. A seven-vehicle pile up on the A55 westbound expressway in north Wales has closed another section of road following an earlier fatal crash.
The incident, between St Asaph and Abergele in Denbighshire, saw another man taken to Glan Clwyd hospital with "non-life threatening injuries". One man died in a collision involving two lorries, a van and a fourth vehicle between St Asaph and Abergele on Tuesday.
Traffic is being diverted off the road, at junction 27. Police said it will remain closed until mid-afternoon. Then, at 14:40 GMT, six cars and a lorry crashed, meaning the westbound carriageway was closed at junction 31.
The incident has led to lengthy queues. Traffic was already being diverted off the road at junction 27.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "The collision involved two HGV vehicles and a Ford Transit van. North Wales Police say efforts are being made to reopen one lane of the road that was closed this morning, but the latest crash near the Holywell junction means long tailbacks and detours for motorists.
"The occupant of one of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries." The earlier crash saw another man taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, with "non-life threatening injuries".
Following the afternoon crash, two women were taken to the same hospital.
