Police negotiators have spent more than 10 hours talking to a man who has barricaded himself into a flat in Edinburgh. A man who barricaded himself in an Edinburgh flat has been detained for questioning following a 13-hour stand-off with police.
It is understood there is also a woman in the flat, which is in the Meadowbank area of the city. The 40-year-old man was removed by police from the flat in Meadowbank's Sunnybank Terrace and taken to a local station at about 1140 GMT.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the incident began at about 2230 GMT on Wednesday. A 27-year-old woman, who was also in the flat, was released an hour before police entered.
The man is believed to be unarmed. The flat is part of a block in Sunnybank Terrace, near London Road. The incident began at about 2230 GMT on Wednesday.
Police have blocked off the street.
