Aerial footage showed a plane on the ground and one person being treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital, NBC in Los Angeles reported.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Los Angeles Fire Department said they received a 911 call at 14:20 (22:20 GMT) and attended to a "medium-to-high impact" plane crash at the Penmar Golf Course.
The man, aged about 70 but whom they did not name, was outside the plane when the paramedics arrived, and he was conscious and breathing, the fire spokesman said.
The man suffered "moderate trauma" and his condition was "fair to moderate".
The news was first reported by TMZ and then confirmed by other US media.
TMZ said Ford suffered "multiple gashes to his head" and he was treated at the scene by two doctors who were at the golf course, before being taken to hospital.
Later this year, the 72-year-old is due to reprise the role of Han Solo in the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
