Snow closes schools and affects travel in Scotland | |

Heavy snow falls have closed a number of schools and affected driving conditions. | |
Several schools in the Highlands and Perthshire have been shut because of the weather. The M90 south of Perth has been affected by snow. | |
The Met Office has a yellow "be aware" warning in place for Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales. | |
It warns of wintry showers with ice and snow falling to low levels in Scotland and Northern Ireland. | |
Snow could accumulate to depths of 4-8cm at around 200m in western parts of Scotland. | |
The Met Office said ice would be a hazard across much of northern Britain. | |
Wintry conditions have closed a small number of schools in the Highlands and in Perth and Kinross. | |
Primary schools in Glenlyon, Kinloch Rannoch, Madderty, Logiealmond, Comrie, Crieff and Muthill were shut, while Crieff High School was opened for local pupils only. | |
Balfron High School was also closed due to what was described as "extreme weather making travel dangerous". | |
There were several minor accidents through the morning on roads in Stirlingshire and Perthshire, while Traffic Scotland warned of hazardous conditions on the M90 around Kinross due to heavy snow. | |
