Police investigate suspicious death in Hamilton Murder inquiry after Stephen Coutts' death in Hamilton

A man has died and another is in a stable condition in hospital following an incident in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. Detectives have launched a murder inquiry into the death of a man in South Lanarkshire.
Police were called to a disturbance at Mayfield Road at about 23:50 on Saturday. Stephen Coutts, 35, died following an incident in Mayfield Road, Hamilton, at about 23:50 on Saturday.
The two men, both 35, were taken to hospital where one was pronounced dead. Another man, also 35, was injured and is in a stable condition in hospital.
Police are describing the death as suspicious and a post-mortem examination will be held to establish how the man died. Det Insp David Moran, of police Scotland, said the investigation was at an early stage and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
A police spokeswoman said inquiries into the incident were at an early stage. "Officers are conducting inquiries in the surrounding area to establish what happened," he said.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist us with our inquiries to contact police."
