Rap star 50 Cent has landed in trouble with police after being stopped for alleged unsafe driving in New York.

The rapper was pulled over in his silver open-topped Lamborghini. A crowd gathered, taking photos, cheering the superstar and jeering the police.

He received citations for an unsafe lane change, driving with an expired permit, driving without insurance and driving without vehicle registration.

He could have to pay up to $220 (£118) in fines and surcharges, officers said.

50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - was taken to a police station but released when a friend turned up with proof that the rapper owned the car.

The 31-year-old star, known for his gangster image, has sold 22 million albums around the world.
