A man has died after he was shot with a police stun gun in Bedford. A man has died following a confrontation with police in Bedford.
Officers were called to a house in The Spinney after reports of a domestic dispute between a mother and her son. He was shot with a police stun gun after threatening officers with a knife before he "inflicted a more serious injury on himself", said police.
The man, aged in his 30s and who was suffering from an injury, threatened officers with a knife and was shot with the Taser gun on Saturday, police said. The incident happened at a house in The Spinney after reports of a domestic dispute between a mother and her son.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed. A post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death is due on Monday. The man, aged in his 30s, went into the house after being shot and was found in "urgent need of medical attention", police said. He died in hospital later.
The man was outside when officers arrived at about 1900 GMT but retreated inside the house after being shot with the stun gun. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed.

Officers followed the man into the house where they found him injured and in need of medical treatment. When officers arrived at the house at about 1900 GMT on Saturday they were confronted by the armed man, police said.
He was then shot with the police Taser gun.
"The man went into the house where he inflicted a more serious injury on himself," said Bedfordshire Police.
"When officers found him, he was in urgent need of medical attention."
