Angolan plane disaster 'kills 11'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/world/africa/7198408.stm Version 0 of 1. A light aircraft has crashed in the mountains of central Angola, killing at least 11 people on board. There were no survivors from the crash, which happened just before 0800 local time (0700 GMT). The privately-owned twin-engine Beechcraft-200 aircraft was flying from the capital Luanda to the second city, Huambo, 450 km (280 miles) south-east. Initial reports suggest bad weather may be the cause. Two Portuguese nationals were said to be among the dead. Angola has a poor record in air safety, mainly because of inadequate maintenance of its aircraft. Its national carrier TAAG is banned from flying to the European Union because of safety concerns. |
