A wedding guest who smashed a wine glass in the face of a bridesmaid, leaving her needing 100 stitches, has been jailed.

Cherie Morgan, 34, attacked Sarah Cosker, 29, in a toilet just hours after she had walked down the aisle.

Morgan, of Briton Ferry, was jailed for four-and-a-half years after she admitted wounding with intent at Swansea Crown Court.

Miss Cosker might never smile properly again, the court heard.

She was left with gaping wounds on her cheek and lip after the attack in the toilet of Bar Gallois in Aberavon near Port Talbot, where the wedding party was being held.

The court heard the two women were in a row after Morgan was caught "flirting" with another woman's husband when she lashed out with the wine glass in October.

Prosecutor Brian Simpson said the mother-of-two, who needed facial muscle reconstruction and nerve repair work, "is a totally different person to what she was before".

Judge Huw Davies QC told Morgan: "You left your victim with gross, gaping wounds. She feels unable to face people at work. Her confidence has been shattered."
