Two people have been arrested in connection with the suspicious death of 20-year-old Alexander Thomson in Edinburgh's Morningside at the weekend.
A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man are now awaiting a court appearance date following his death.
Police were called to a party at a flat in Newbattle Terrace at about 0625 GMT after a disturbance.
Mr Thomson, who was visiting from his Newcastle home, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he later died.
A report is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal and the post-mortem examination will be held on Monday.
Tributes paid | |
His father, also called Alexander Thomson, paid tribute to his son, and laid flowers, a Scotland flag and a Ranger's flag in the garden of the flat where he was found.
He said: "Our whole family has been absolutely devastated.
"He was our pride and joy and we still can't believe this has happened to him. His brother and sister are inconsolable."
Mr Thomas, an apprentice electrician and keen footballer and boxer, had recently moved down to Newcastle to be closer to his older sister Charlene, 24.
He had returned to Edinburgh to spend time with his mother Wendy Barlow, 43 and two younger brothers, Claye, 16 and Ben, 11 and was due to return to England just days after his death. |
