A Church-in-Wales vicar has been questioned by Dyfed-Powys Police for offences relating to indecent images of children. A Church in Wales vicar and his wife has been questioned by Dyfed-Powys Police for internet offences relating to indecent images of children.
Richard Hart, 58, from Beguildy near Knighton in Powys, who is married, has been suspended from all church duties. Rev Richard Hart, 58, and Julie, 40, a primary school assistant, were arrested at the vicarage in Beguildy in Powys on Friday.
A church spokesperson confirmed the suspension after the cleric's arrest on Friday for alleged internet offences. A computer and paperwork were removed from the house and the pair were bailed until February after questioning.
Dyfed-Powys Police said a man, 58, and a woman, 40, were arrested and later released on police bail. The vicar has been suspended indefinitely from his pastoral duties.
A force spokesman said the arrests were "in connection with offences relating to indecent images of children." The Church in Wales confirmed the suspension after the vicar's arrest on Friday for alleged internet offences.
He added: "They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Dyfed-Powys Police are working closely with Church-in-Wales authorities and other individuals in the area to support local communities." He is also chairman of governors at Beguildy Church-in-Wales School. He added: "They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Dyfed-Powys Police are working closely with Church in Wales authorities and other individuals in the area to support local communities."
