Skream’s favourite tracks
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/jan/16/skream-favourite-tracks-jackmaster Version 0 of 1. The track I’ll be opening my next DJ set with Vermont: Abersprung It’s more of a melodic soundscape piece with no drums. It’s the piece to reset the vibes so it means I can really build the dynamics of my set from there. The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor Floorplan: Baby, Baby The groove on it is ridiculous and the legendary sample from James Brown’s The Boss gets everyone. The track that currently gets the most rewinds Steve Lawler: House Record I haven’t rewound a record in a few years. But without a shadow of a doubt it’s the biggest dancefloor bomb since I got it from Hot Creations. The production is really authentic for the vibe it’s going for: straight-up late 80s house. There isn’t a flaw in this record. The track I wish I’d signed to my label Jasper James: Listen To My Buttons Completely my vibe: so dark yet so beautiful. Epic 5am vibes. I nearly got to sign it but Jasper had to be loyal to the Scottish legends Optimo and, to be fair, rightly so! The track I think has been unfairly slept on this year Eli Escobar: Sweet Love If you haven’t heard this go and find it now. The melody’s so good, almost hypnotic. The track I’d play to show off my eclectic tastes Bombers: (Everybody) Get Dancin’ I showed a lot of my “DJ friends” this. Jackmaster will vouch for me on that. The track that I’d play at my auntie’s wedding Aretha Franklin: I Say A Little Prayer As soon as that piano starts the champagne gets necked and you’ll see me on the dancefloor. The track that got me out of bed this morning Aftershock: Slave To The Vibe Reminds me of making mixtapes for girls when I was at school… Never failed. The ideal festival track Hooverphonic: Unfinished Sympathy It just hits my heartstrings, this version – if I heard this at Glasto I think I would finally lose my mind! The track I’d play at sunset in Ibiza Kool & The Gang: Summer Madness Always gets me in a wind-down mood before it’s time to cause carnage, whether in Ibiza or Croydon. The track I’d play at my funeral Barnt: Chappell To make sure I went out with a bang. Skream plays a Saturday residency at XOYO, EC2, to 28 Mar |
