Version 0 of 1.

In the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attacks on the Charlie Hebdo offices and a kosher grocery store in Paris last week, anxieties in France, and elsewhere in Europe, have been high. Increased security in the country has recalled the situation in the United States after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Some French Jews, worried already about anti-Semitism, have indicated that they are scared, angry and unsure of their future in France. Some Muslims living in Europe have felt unfairly tarnished by the actions of the radicalized few who carried out the violence, and they fear reprisals.

The New York Times asked readers in Europe to share their experiences before and after the attacks. Some readers lamented what they saw as the inability of some Muslims to assimilate into secular European society. Other Muslim readers said that Europe was hostile to Islam, and that they felt unwelcome. But other readers who identified themselves as Jews, Christians and Muslims expressed solidarity after the attacks and hoped their experiences could help dispel prejudices.

Here are some excerpts from responses The Times has received from readers this week.
