Wolfsburg player Junior Malanda dies aged 20 after car accident in Germany

Wolfsburg’s Belgium Under-21s player Junior Malanda has been killed in a car accident which took place on Saturday afternoon. The German newspaper Bild have reported that Malanda, who was due to fly to a club training camp in South Africa, was a passenger in a Volkswagen that lost control and crashed into a tree. The club are yet to comment on the reports, but a police official has confirmed that Malanda was killed in the crash which took place near Bielefeld, around 100 miles from Wolfsburg. Malanda was considered one of the club’s most promising players, having been capped at under-21 level by Belgium. He had featured in 10 league games this season for Wolfsburg, who are second in the Bundesliga, which is on its winter break. |
