Wind hits power and shuts bridges Gale-force winds cause disruption

Gale-force winds have left about 11,000 homes across Scotland without power and closed the Erskine, Forth and Tay road bridges to all traffic. Winds of up to 80mph have left about 7,000 homes across Scotland without power and closed major road bridges.
Utility companies said engineers were unable to carry out any repair work until the wind died down. Gale-force winds and heavy rain hit parts of central, western and southern Scotland.
