Police Scotland appealed for witnesses.
Sgt Rob Warnock said: "In particular we would like to speak to the driver and occupants of a black BMW vehicle which had been travelling behind the black Nissan Qashqai.
"The vehicle stopped at the scene but left before police were able to speak to the occupants."
