Those brave enough to take part broke last year's record of 1,000 participants as the event marked its 50th year. Organisers said the atmosphere was "incredible" as the annual event marked its 50th year.
Ian Stroud, from Porthcawl Christmas Swim, said: "Everyone was in good humour and good spirits.
"The fancy dress really added to the day, and for our anniversary it was absolutely fantastic."
He added the public had been very generous in raising and donating money.
"We couldn't get over the generosity. Every penny of it will go to charity," he said.
