Egypt: Bomb Kills 2 in Army Vehicle in Sinai Peninsula

Version 0 of 1. A roadside bomb struck an army vehicle late Thursday, killing an officer and a soldier in the Sinai Peninsula, security officials said. The attack occurred south of the town of El-Arish, the scene of frequent attacks by militants on the security forces. Another soldier was wounded in the blast, officials said. Egypt’s military has been battling an insurgency on the peninsula since it ousted President Mohamed Morsi last year and cracked down on his supporters. Militant groups claim their attacks are in retaliation for the government crackdown, which has left hundreds dead and thousands jailed. |
