Version 0 of 1.

A gigantic new punk supergroup will feature members of Foo Fighters, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Black Flag, Sunn O))) and more than a dozen other bands. The debut album by Teenage Time Killer, due next year, will also include Jello Biafra’s performance of a poem written by John Cleese.

Formed in 2013, Teenage Time Killer are led by Corrosion of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin, with significant assistance from the Foos’ Dave Grohl. All of the LP’s instrumental parts were recorded at Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, using his celebrated Sound City mixing board. The former Nirvana member also played on all 12 songs.

Some of the project’s contributors were part of a slowly unfolding plan. Mullin phoned Biafra, for instance, asking if he wanted to sing a version of Cleese’s anti-Fox News opus Ode to Sean Hannity. Others joined thanks to serendipity: Mullin bumped into Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe at Los Angeles airport. The result is “a very good mixture of old hardcore punk, punk and metal stuff,” Mullin told WFMU.

The finished product was mastered by the Descendants co-founder Bill Stevenson and will be released by Portland’s Rise Records. Once the album is on its way, the ensemble hope to tour. “[We could] maybe do something like ... have three or four different singers come out at one time,” Mullin explained to Indy Week. “All the songs are real short, so we could do, easily, four songs and not go over ... It’s pretty star-studded.”
