Mobile phone coverage in Wales is set to be boosted from 63% to 83% as part of a £5bn UK-wide deal with the four mobile networks.

It will see areas with no coverage cut by two-thirds and areas without access to all four operators halved by 2017, the UK government said.

EE, O2, Three and Vodafone have agreed to the binding agreement which does not involve public money being spent.

Wales Office Minister Alun Cairns welcomed the move.

He said it was part of the "long term economic plan to grow the economy and attract businesses to Wales".
