Met Office warnings for snow and ice in Wales Flooding in Wales sparks travel disruption
(about 9 hours later)
Weather warnings have been issued for most parts of Wales as wind, snow and ice is expected to hit overnight. Drivers face travel misery after a night of heavy rain in many parts of Wales.
The Met Office gave the yellow "be aware" warnings for Friday following a storm dubbed a "weather bomb". Natural Resources Wales has issued four flood warnings and six flood alerts for Friday, with adverse weather hitting rail and ferry services.
Snow and ice are expected in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Wrexham and up to 5cm (1.9in) of snow could fall on high ground. There are also a number of road closures and drivers have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys.
As clouds move away, clearing skies pose a risk of icy conditions during Friday morning's rush hour. National Rail said flooding has left trains unable to run between Machynlleth and Newtown.
Gales are also expected in south, east and west of Wales. A replacement bus service is being put in place.
The coast could see winds up to 70mph and gusts up to 60mph inland. The disruption, affecting Arriva Trains Wales journeys between Pwllheli, Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury, is likely to last until 10:00 GMT, the company said.
Rail passengers are advised to check services before the travel.
The flood warnings have been issued for River Wye at Builth Wells, River Severn at Pool Quay and Trewern, River Severn at Aberbechan, and River Severn at Abermule and Fron.
The A490 in Powys is closed in both directions between A489 at Church Stoke and B4386 at Chirbury due to flooding.
Ferry company Stena Line has said sailings from Holyhead on Anglesey have been delayed and travellers should check departures.
