Officers said Mr Lambie was probably injured during an altercation in the town's Factory Road between 2300 GMT on Tuesday and 0100 GMT Wednesday. Officers originally said they believed an altercation in Factory Road, Brynmawr late on Tuesday night may have led to his death.
A post mortem examination will be carried out on Friday. Police are treating the death as suspicious. But that has been ruled out following a post mortem examination carried out on Friday.
However, the death is still being treated as suspicious and police investigations are continuing to find out the exact cause.
