Wiltshire Police said: "Police arrived to find a male armed with a knife. A number received knife wounds." Another had a minor knife wound to his face but was not in hospital and the three others were suffering from shock.
'Acted quickly' Wiltshire Police said these three officers had not sustained physical injuries.
He added: "A dog handler has been taken to Great Western Hospital where his injuries are not life-threatening. A 26-year-old man was arrested during the incident. A statement from the force said the officers arrived at the scene to find a man armed with a knife.
"Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident." 'Horrendous circumstances'
Acting Ch Supt Kevin Maidment added: "Police officers attended the location promptly. These officers acted quickly and effectively to ensure that the man was located and arrested, preventing further serious injuries to members of the public or officers." A spokesman added: "A dog handler has been taken to Great Western Hospital where his injuries are not life-threatening.
"A 26-year-old man was arrested during the incident. Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."
