A police statement said: "An intensive search operation is still under way in the Avon Gorge area involving police, Avon Search and Rescue, mountain rescue volunteers and the police helicopter. Ms Bevan is believed to have suffered from schizophrenia and depression and been sleep deprived after giving birth.
Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership said it would "work with colleagues in health and other partner agencies to give our full support in determining the series of event which led to this tragic death".
"During this period we will not add to the suffering of those close to Charlotte by speculating on the circumstances further."
