A 22-year-old man is in hospital after he was stabbed in south Belfast on new year's morning. A 31-year-old man has been charged with attempting to murder a man in south Belfast on New Year's morning.
The victim was standing with friends in University Road when he was attacked by a man between 0130 GMT and 0145 GMT. The 22-year-old victim was standing with friends in University Road when he was stabbed in the stomach sometime between 0130 GMT and 0145 GMT.
He was stabbed in the abdomen and is now in a stable condition. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A 45-year-old man held in connection with the attack is still being questioned.
A 31-year-old man was detained at the scene by the victim's friends and then arrested by police. A 45-year-old man was also arrested. Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to contact them.
