Boy quizzed over teenager's death Murder probe into teenager death

Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy in Leicester after an attack early on New Year's Day. A murder inquiry is under way after the a 16-year-old boy was attacked and killed in Leicester in the early hours, police have said.
Leicestershire Police said the boy was assaulted in Fosse Road South and died at the scene. A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the death. Three people, including two teenagers, were arrested following the incident in Fosse Road South.
A female was also arrested and was being questioned. Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them. Leicestershire Police said the boy was attacked in the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area has been cordoned off for forensic examination and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later. A 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 31-year-old woman were being questioned about the death.

A post-mortem examination will take place later on Tuesday.
Det Ch Insp Phil Smith, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are in the very early stages of the investigation and are trying to piece together exactly what happened.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the area at the time or has any information that could help with our investigation to get in touch urgently."
