Pele, the 74-year-old Brazilian soccer legend, is in good condition after a Sao Paulo hospital’s statement that he had been moved to a “special care” unit sparked concern in the country in which he is a national hero.

“He is fine,” Jose Fornos Rodrigues told the Associated Press after the Albert Einstein hospital had said in a statement that his condition had become unstable. “The problem was that he was receiving too many visitors and that wasn’t helping, so they transferred him to a calmer area to continue receiving the proper treatment. He should be out of the hospital in a few days.”

Pele, who played for three World Cup champions and is one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet, entered the hospital Monday and is being treated with antibiotics for the infection.  He had surgery to remove kidney stones less than 15 days ago, but has generally been in good health.

Pele, the FIFA player of the century, scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 games during his 21-year career.
