Pilot dies in aircraft accident | |

A pilot has been killed after his light aircraft crashed in the Scottish Borders, police have confirmed. | |
The aircraft crashed near the B6453 at Midlem, three miles east of Selkirk, at about 1550 GMT on Sunday. | |
Emergency services attended the scene which is in remote farmland area with poor light and accessibility. The area has now been cordoned off. | |
Lothian and Borders Police said the pilot is thought to have been the only person on board the aircraft. | |
His details are not being released until relatives are informed. | |
Insp David Watt, the officer in charge at the scene, said: "I understand the plane had taken off from a local airfield earlier. | |
"We will be working closely with the Air Accident Investigation Branch in an effort to discover the cause of the crash." |
