Thief strikes man with golf club

A man is recovering after a burglar struck him on the head with a golf club in a robbery at his south Belfast home.

The man was awoken early on Sunday morning by a burglar who tried to lift his wallet from a bedside table in his Riverside View home on the Ormeau Road.

A second burglar entered the room and struck the man with a golf club. They demanded the keys to his car.

The injured man alerted his flat mates. The burglars didn't get the car, but took a tv, cash and credit cards.

Police are appealing for information. It is understood that the burglars were about 18 years old.
