Climber dies after mountain fall

A climber has died in the Highlands after slipping and falling down a mountain.

The 55-year-old Aberdeen man was out walking with friends on Saturday when the accident happened at 1600 GMT.

Mountain rescue teams from Glenelg and Kintail were called out following the accident on Beinn Sgritheall.

An RAF search and rescue helicopter was scrambled and airlifted the man to the Belford Hospital in Fort William but he was confirmed dead on arrival.

The 974m Munro is an isolated peak overlooking the village of Arnisdale near Glenelg.
