Youth dies after being hit by car

Craig MacRitchie, from Giffnock, was crossing the town's Fenwick Road near Orchard Drive, at about 2230 GMT when he was hit by a Volkswagen Golf. He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary with serious head injuries and later transferred to the Southern General. He died at about 2000 GMT on Friday. Strathclyde Police said the 21-year old driver of the Golf was uninjured, but extremely shaken after the crash. In a statement, released through the police, Craig's family said: "On Friday the 28th of December, Craig died peacefully. Craig was a young lad who enjoyed life. He had a love for family, friends and sport Family statement "The support and prayers shown by so many has been such a help to the family. Craig followed Jesus and we believe that he is now home in heaven. "Craig was a young lad who enjoyed life. He had a love for family, friends and sport. "Craig had a great sense of humour. His faith in God played a major part of who he was as a person." The family said they would like to hear the thoughts and memories of anyone who knew Craig. A report on the teenager's death will be sent to the procurator fiscal. |
