A man wore the same suit on TV almost every day for a year. Nobody cared.

Australian newscaster Karl Stefanovic was looking for a way to spotlight a double standard in his industry: Women who regularly appear on TV seem to be targets for tons of unsolicited criticism of their appearance and wardrobe, but the same doesn’t hold true for men.

It looks like he found a pretty successful way to do it.

Over the weekend, Stefanovic, the co-host of Australia’s “Today” show, revealed that he’s worn the same, cheap, “Burberry knock-off” suit on air nearly every day for a year And … the network received a total of zero comments and complaints about his wardrobe.

“No one has noticed; no one gives a s—,” Stefanovic said to Fairfax Media. “But women, they wear the wrong color and they get pulled up. They say the wrong thing and there’s thousands of tweets written about them. Women are judged much more harshly and keenly for what they do, what they say and what they wear.”

Compare that to the sort of feedback his “Today” co-host Lisa Wilkinson gets on a regular basis. Wilkinson discussed the issue in a lecture about a year ago, apparently prompting Stefanovic’s stunt.

“Who the heck is Lisa’s stylist? Whoever it is has Lisa in some shocking clothes. Today’s outfit is particularly jarring and awful. Just my two cents worth. Get some style.”

While Stefanovic’s suit almost never changed (“I’m hoping to get it into the dry cleaners at the end of the year,” he joked), he at least switched up a few parts of his daily outfit, according to his co-host.
