A woman who died in a car crash which may have been caused when objects were thrown at her car has been named.

Suzanne Singer, 40, from Shoeburyness in Essex, died after swerving off the A127 near Basildon and hitting a tree.

Two drivers have told Essex Police objects hit their vehicles at about the same time as the woman's Vauxhall Corsa left the A127 at Dunton.

A post-mortem examination found she died of multiple injuries. Police have carried out a search of the scene.

One of the drivers who contacted police said his driver-side window was smashed a few minutes before the woman crashed into trees beside the road.

The south-bound carriageway of the road was closed for more than five hours as a result.
