The former lead singer of the Cranberries has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a flight attendant. The former lead singer of the Cranberries has been arrested over an alleged assault on a transatlantic flight to Ireland.
Dolores O’Riordan was detained at Shannon airport in Ireland after an incident on a flight from JFK airport in New York. Gardaí confirmed a woman in her 40s had been arrested on the Aer Lingus plane after it landed on Monday morning. The singer was taken to Shannon Garda station where she can be detained for 24 hours. Police drove to the landing area when the plane came to a halt, boarded the aircraft and arrested O’Riordan.

It is understood the flight attendant suffered a foot injury and was taken to the Mid-West Regional hospital in Limerick for treatment. O’Riordan was detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and questioned on allegations of assault. A spokesman for Aer Lingus described the incident as a “security matter”.
An Aer Lingus spokesman said: “An incident took place on board flight EI 110 en route from New York to Shannon today. The matter is being investigated by An Garda Síochána.
