But two of the 1,000 people stranded at Heathrow overnight were extremely unhappy with the lack of facilities made available to them.
Andrew Coiley, on his way home from Seoul to Belfast, had his connecting flight cancelled and spent the night on the floor of Terminal 1.
He told BBC News: "By that time there was nothing to eat. The only thing I could get was from the vending machine. So I had a hard floor and a bag of crisps."
Another stranded traveller was Tibor Mezei, from Hungary.

It is the second Christmas Eve in a row he has been stuck at Heathrow, on both occasions he has been on his way from Los Angeles to Budapest.
He told BBC News: "It's just unbelievable. No-one can give me instructions. I'm here with luggage and a two-year-old, and honestly there's been zero information."
