The date for the retrial will be set on Friday 3 November. He admitted manslaughter, but denied murdering Kiyan on 18 May outside the gates of the London Academy.
He said the death was an accident and that he intended to scratch Kiyan with a knife he considered a toy.
Kiyan, who played for Queens Park Rangers' youth team, was stabbed through the heart.
