A man arrested in connection with the death of a 74-year-old woman is still being questioned by police.

Margaret Office had head, back and neck injuries and developed bronchial pneumonia as a result of her wounds.

She died on Thursday after being admitted to North Tyneside General Hospital earlier this month.

The 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. A 42-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has been bailed.

Ms Office lived in St Stephen's Way, Percy Main, and detectives are particularly keen to trace her movements between 3 and 5 December.

An incident room has been set up at Wallsend Police Station and anyone with information should contact the Northumbria force.
