Youth hit in the face with bottle

A 15-year-old boy was attacked with a bottle by a group of youths, Strathclyde Police have confirmed.

The incident occurred on Dumbarton Road in the Whiteinch area of Glasgow after 2030GMT on Friday evening.

The youngster had been standing with friends when a group of up to six youths began chasing them.

A bottle struck the teenager's face causing a serious injury to his eye. He is now in hospital where he said to be in a stable condition.

After the incident the gang, aged between 15 and 17, were seen to run towards the Govan area.

Police said that some of the group had been wearing tracksuits.

Det con Lee Hamilton appealed for information and said: "This was a senseless attack on a young boy, the consequences of which could affect him for the rest of his life.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Whiteinch Cross around 8.30pm last night, and who saw a group of youths maybe hanging around.

"Likewise I would urge anyone who has any information that would help my enquiries to contact me."
