Elderly woman dies in house fire

An 82-year-old woman has died in a house fire in Bootle, Merseyside.

Firefighters found the pensioner's body in the ground floor living room at the back of the house on Park Lane on Friday evening.

Crews were called to the property shortly after 1830 GMT following reports of a blaze.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious but the cause of the blaze - which also severely damaged parts of the house - is being investigated.
