Most patients in Wales happy with their doctor, survey finds

The majority of Welsh patients are happy with the service they get from their doctor, a survey has found.

Out of the 55,000 patients asked, 95% said they had confidence in their doctor.

Doctors must get formal feedback from patients every five years in order to keep their licence to practice.

The survey by researchers at Equiniti 360 Clinical comes following a week of intense scrutiny of the Welsh Labour government's running of the NHS.

The survey is known as a medical revalidation, which is run by Equiniti 360 Clinical for the healthcare sector.

It began in December 2012 and applies to all doctors working in primary care and in hospitals.

It found that:

Health Minister Mark Drakeford said: "The relationship between a patient and their doctor has a real effect on patient experience.

"These results provide assurance doctors in Wales are providing a service to be proud of."
