£425,000 compensation payout for woman who unwittingly had baby with undercover police officer

Version 0 of 1. A woman who unknowingly had a baby with an undercover police officer is to be paid £425,000 in compensation, it has been reported. The women, who has been identified only as Jacqui, required psychiatric treatment and considered suicide after discovering the true identity of her child's father. She first met undercover officer Bob Lambert when he posed as a left wing radical in 1984, but in reality he was part of a secret police unit attempting to infiltrate environmental and animal rights groups. In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, Jacqui said the pay out would not bring her any closure as the police had not admitted any fault. The compensation is believed to be the first of its kind. Previously she commented that the experience had left her feeling like she had been “raped by the state”. The Met said it “unreservedly apologised for any pain and suffering” caused. Ten other women are currently trying to sue the Met after discovering their boyfriends were also undercover police officers. |
