Online retailer Amazon is creating more than 1,000 seasonal jobs at its Swansea distribution centre to cope with demand in the run up to Christmas.

Across its eight distribution centres and customer service centre in Edinburgh, Amazon is hiring 13,000 seasonal staff.

It comes a week after announcing 1,000 permanent jobs would be created across its UK operations, adding to the 6,000 staff currently employed.

The Swansea base opened in 2008.

On its busiest day in the run up to last Christmas, the firm said customers ordered 4.1 million items.
