Version 0 of 1.

A former Sunday Mirror journalist has been charged with phone-hacking offences allegedly committed more than 13 years ago.

Graham Johnson will appear before Westminster magistrates’ court on 6 November charged with intercepting mobile phone voicemails between 31 August 2001 and 22 October 2001.

He is the second former Sunday Mirror journalist to have been charged with alleged hacking offences. Dan Evans pleaded guilty to hacking at the Sunday Mirror and News of the World, and gave evidence in the Rebekah Brooks trial.

One other unidentified individual was told on Wednesday that no further action would be taken in relation to a conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office on the grounds of insufficient evidence.

Johnson is now a crime author and investigative journalist who has written books on the murder of Meredith Kercher, gang wars and organised crime in football.

He worked at the Sunday Mirror between 1997 and 2006 and for six years was the paper’s investigations editor.
